Membership in the Marching Band is open to all interested students. Like all other band ensembles, Marching Band is an academic class taken for credit. All interested students are invited to audition for Marching Band. Although music majors are encouraged to join, the majority of Marching Band members are from other academic disciplines.

The U of M Drumline is an integral part of the U of M Marching Band, performing in football pre-game and halftime shows, parades, two annual indoor concerts and more.
The Drumline is made up of the following sections:
- 8 Snares
- 6 Tenors
- 6 Bass Drums
- 10 Cymbals
We hold three pre-season practices prior to Spat Camp. Rookies are welcome and encouraged to attend and participate in these practices to get better acquainted with rehearsals, campus and to meet people.
